![]() The State of Connecticut and the federal government kept their commitments and, in some cases, even expanded them. Longtime partners, like the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and the United Way, never wavered. Our friends, donors, volunteers and partners made it possible in fiscal year 2021 for us to expand our services, strengthen programs and double-down on support for our frontline staff. That’s key to our mission-and we can’t do it without you. We believe resilience is something anyone can learn and develop, with the right support. Each one of them practiced resilience, with The Village right by their side when they needed us most. You’ll see how The Village helped clients overcome significant challenges, such as being evicted, battling cancer, suffering from depression and coping with addiction. And yet, every day, we witnessed our clients display incredible acts of courage and resilience.Īs you flip through the pages of this annual report, we invite you to use your phone to actually hear some of their stories. Financial strain and uncertainty often made things worse. Physical and mental health were put to the test. The pandemic exacerbated the challenges so many of our clients were already facing. Many times, resilience is seen as a badge of honor, but we know that when trauma is involved, resilience can be about more than just bouncing back. Resilience-it’s the one word that sums up the last year at The Village.
